Doorstep has always celebrated festivals of many faiths and cultures. The service we provide reflects the diverse community of which we are a part. We celebrate many festival days such as Eid, May Day, Easter, Wesak, Hannukah and Divali, We also run themed events based around specific topics such as Insect Day, Ocean Day, World Food Day and many more. The events are fun-filled with activities that both adults and children can get involved in. Our lunchtime meal reflects the event and this gives many people the opportunity to try food from other cultures for the first time. In June 2003, East Oxford Action funded a project for our parents and children to take part in the Cowley Road Carnival. This was a great success, and we were able to fund our own projects for the carnival in subsequent years. |
